“I first met jack in Chicago at the first real chimney sweep convention. We took the first certification test together. I remember doing the test in about 30 minutes then discussing the answers for 3 hours. That was the convention that Jack joined the Board of Directors and he’s been deeply involved with our Guild ever since. Jack’s unselfish commitment dates from these Renaissance days of sweeping in the USA. These were the heady days of Eva Horton, Ken Hinkley, Ron Mazzeo, Fred Toldo, Chris Curtis and Jim Newman.

I’ve got my own reasons for believing that Jack Pixley deserves our Lifetime Achievement Award. I have recorded 3 confirmed instances where Jack has transferred his cheerleaders to me. I don’t know how much time he spends educating each customer but these 3 transferees were so well versed about chimney safety issues that they just knew that their new purchase had to be serviced by a Certified Chimney Sweep. It is as if because I knew Jack- I must be an OK sweep. Well, it’s great being part of a trade that has a Jack Pixley. Isn’t it fitting to thank him for almost 25 years of commitment to our trade?”
