Why should you choose Jack Pixley Chimney-Sweeps and Masonry for your chimney work?

There are thousands of masonry companies out there to choose from, but with 34 years of experience we are the leading experts in chimneys.  We are not only a CSIA Certified company, we also have a State Contractor Liscense #20183369.  We have included before and after pictures on this page so that you can see the work that we perform.  Lots of masonry companies will talk about the work that they do, we want to show you the work that we do.

We know that we do quality work that is gauranteed.  We do not hire sub contractors and everyone that is at your home works for our company.   Our masons pay attention to detail and believe in quality over quantity.  We know that you will agree that Jack Pixley-Chimney Sweeps and Masonry does quality work, at a fair price.

This chimney required a roofline up rebuild. It was also noted by our technician that the chimney was 2 feet short of code. The IRC (International Residence Code) states that where chimneys terminate the roof they must be at least 3 feet tall and 2 feet taller than anything with in 10 feet. This is to prevent a spark from landing on the roof and starting a structural fire. Most chimneys meet these requirements, but when they don’t it is important to have a compitent contractor that will make sure that it is brought to code for the safety of your family.

This shows the chimney after we have properly removed the brick to the roofline, and rebuilt it. We use brick of the homeowners choice when we do this kind of rebuild. It also requires that we have the chimney reflashed to prevent water leaks. Anytime that you are having your chimney rebuilt and it goes to the roofline, plan to have the flashing done as well.

In other cases we will get the best match possible. You will see in the next picture how we were able to match a “used Chicago Common” brick, with a harder faced brick that will last mutch longer then the older soft faced “Chicago Commons.” “Chicago commons” were most often chosen for their look and extremely low price. As the name says they were brick that were used on and in buildings in the 1900′s and most commonly in Chicago. They are a used brick that has been being exposed to the eliments for years. They have a soft look that is appealing to the eye, but they are a soft brick that is extremely porous. This is a brick that is best suited for interior work, rather then being exposed to the harsh Minnesota winters. We use a harder faced brick that is made to look like the old “Chicago.” We find that they match extremely well.
